About the Staff

Spartan Child Development Center prides itself on the quality of its teachers and believes that its teachers are role models for the children. The women and men who will become such an integral part of your child's life are professionals with degrees in child development and related fields.

A teacher and an assistant teacher lead each unit. Each teacher is skilled in appropriate methods for managing the activities of the classroom using a positive guidance approach. Spartan Child Development Center teachers work to provide a safe and consistent environment that promotes the physical, cognitive, emotional and social growth and development of each child.

Teacher/child ratios at the Center are exceptionally low, insuring that children at various stages of development receive the one-on-one interaction they need to attain a healthy self-image. The ratios are as follows:

      • Two teacher to every five infants
      • One teacher to every three toddlers
      • One teacher to every four transition children
      • One teacher to every eight preschoolers

Our program has been recognized for its quality of care. In 1995 and 2000, the Center was accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, which involved extensive review of every aspect of the program. In 1998 the Center was one of the thirty-five facilities in the state recognized with a Governor's Quality Care Award. The Center is currently pursuing the re-accreditation process with the National Academy for the Education of Young Children.
